The Honourable Senator St. Germain, P.C., Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples, presented its second report (budget—study on the federal government's constitutional and legal responsibilities to Aboriginal Peoples—power to hire staff).

The Honourable Senator Angus, Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources, presented its third report (Bill S-210, An Act to amend the Federal Sustainable Development Act and the Auditor General Act (involvement of Parliament), without amendment).

The Honourable Senator Banks moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Neufeld, that the bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a third reading at the next sitting.

Resuming debate on the inquiry of the Honourable Senator Raine, calling the attention of the Senate to the success of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games held in Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler from February 12 to 28 and, in particular, to how the performance of the Canadian athletes at the Olympic and Paralympic Games can inspire and motivate Canadians and especially children to become more fit and healthy.
